Mutton Bustin'

Mutton Bustin' is similar to bull riding, with two differences, the sheep and the children. The event is for children 5 to 7 years old, under 55 pounds.

The children attempt to stay on the sheep for six seconds. Honestly, what could be more fun for a kid than holding onto a sheep and lasting 6 seconds. A sheep is caught and held still, while the child is placed on top in the riding position. Once the child is seated, the people holding the sheep let go and the sheep runs in an attempt to get the child off. As with other events, time and score count. With Mutton Bustin’ anything goes. The young riders love the experience, and the crowd cheers them on. Parents are required to sign a waiver before their children can participate. Safety gear is provided for the aspiring bull riders.
